Send E-Mail

Post by miplatt »

I have created an html template for sending to a mailing list via Send E-Mail in Clay.

In this case, when I try to send out, the system goes through the steps for sending out and at the very end right after it says "Closing Connection," the system delivers a window saying it has encountered a problem, looking for a solution, then closes completely.

Other html templates do send out successfully, therefore it seems that there may be a problem with this file. When I open it in a browser, windows publisher or other programs it seems to look fine.

I must be missing something--do you know what the problem could be? I tried to attach the html file (there is of course a folder of files associated with it, created automatically when saved as a web page, filtered) but I received a message from the forum "The upload was rejected because the uploaded file was identified as a possible attack vector."

Suggestions?

Try zipping and attaching the zip. Include the folder as well.

Thank you for the report. We will fix it for next version. No practical workaround has been found for now unless you can reduce the amount of files or make them smaller.

Glad that you think you have figured out the problem and solution. Any idea when the next version with the fix will be released? Thanks.

Ok, now following the update, the email sends out successfully. However, the email looks a mess.

when I open the html template document itself in a browser or html editor, it looks fine and neat. However, when I sent it through clay, somehow the different images and text boxes end up in disarray.

Do you have any idea what causes this? Is there anything we can do about it?

Clay doesn't touch the content or formatting of the HTML file. It only changes the filenames so that it can attach the images to the email.

When I test, it actually works 99% - there are only some overlap issues with the text but this problem appears even if I open the html file directly in a browser like Firefox. Here is a screenshot of the email that was sent via Clay sendmail when I view it in thunderbird:

It looks exactly the same when I open the original file in Firefox.

The overlap issues have to do with the editor you used for creating the HTML. It didn't generate code that is compatible with all html browsers.

Actually the only time it gets really garbled for me is when I try opening it in Word (any version). If you are getting it garbled then try a different email reader/client. Either way, the problem is in the original html. Make sure you use an editor that creates simple HTML that can be read on all email clients.

Your version definitely looks better--that's what it looks like for me in the browser. just not in outlook. I think I understand.

I made the document in Microsoft Publisher so I will try to switch to a more proper html editor.
