Notes Field in HTML Tab
Notes Field in HTML Tab
In a notes field in an HTML tab used for Address, we would like to be able to enter the address and separate lines...for example street no. on the first line then a building name on another line and perhaps also a district or neighborhood on another line. That way, when producing a document (from document template) the different parts of the address appear on different lines on the page.
Example:
Redbird Building
34 Korela Street
Rathman District
Currently, when we enter this information it, all then appears as one line, even if we hit the enter key in between (hard returns). As far as we are aware, within the document template this cannot be done because it is all part of one field.
Is there a way to do this?

Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
The behaviour you describe works for me perfectly including the use of an HTML tab, a notes field, and adding it to a template that displays it with multiple lines. So perhaps it has to do with how you add it to the template?
Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
Attached is the template we have been using. Perhaps the field address there needs more space?

Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
Your Notes fields work fine with your attached template. However, your 'Address' field, if I am not mistaken, is NOT a Notes field therefore it cannot accept newline characters. You have to use an internal/Clay Notes field, not just change the way it appears in your HTML tab.
Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
I see what you mean. ok.
Is there any way to ensure that in cases of multiple line addresses like that, the subsequent lines can appear tabbed already?

Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
As I said, multiple lines are not supported in non-Notes fields. I am not sure what you mean by lines appearing as 'tabbed'.
Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
In other words, for the proposed Notes field, we can enter a multiple line address (with hard returns) and each part will end up on a different line.
However, if we would want subsequent lines to be indented (appear directly under the beginning of first line of the address) and appear like this:
Address: Redbird Building
34 Korela Street
Rathman District
Is it possible?

Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
Yes. I believe this is the default layout when a field is added to a template. If not, you can always edit the template as you see fit.
Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
I see that my example did not come out properly. We would want the 34 Korela Street and Rathman District to appear under Redbird Building and not under Address:.
I think we would have to manually tab in the document output to make it appear that way, right?

Re: Notes Field in HTML Tab
I don't think 'tabs' would work unless you find an HTML equivalent.
One option it to use spaces or inside the Notes value
Another is to edit the template and use layouting with HTML tags or styles. For example, an HTML <table> with the address and value in separate columns.
