All Changes Mandatory (Only)

Post by yonadav »

Is it possible to set the "change field requirements" so the automation will work if only the marked field are changed and not any other field?

For example:
I want the automation to work only if the name field is changed and not if the name and the owner fields were changed together.

thanks.

This isn't currently possible in a straightforward way, but you can achieve this by detecting separately if the Owner field has changed. Off the top of my head, there are two ways to do this:

1. Make another automation event handler on a higher priority with a changed field requirement on the Owner field. If it passes (i.e. the owner field has changed), then run an action that sets a yes/no field in the record. Check this field in your second event handler filter and then reset it to No in a third handler.

2. Track the previous value for the Owner field in another User field and compare them in your automation filter. i.e. a) check that the previous owner is the same as the current owner with an if function filter b) set the previous owner to the current owner for the next time

Note: Version 9.0 should make life a little bit easier by providing variables instead of having to add fields to store temporary values.
