Mailing List Duplication

Post by miplatt »

When I try to duplicate a mailing list (custom table, with each "mailing list" having a list of entities/contacts), the system creates a duplicate mailing list but does not have any contacts or entities selected. In other words, the duplication process did not seem to bring the content of the list.

Please advise.

Assuming these entities and contacts are in a many-to-many field, it works fine for me.

Please describe how to reproduce this step by step and what you use to duplicate the record.

When we try to duplicate a list it does work properly. It seems that the list that was imported does not duplicate properly because an automation runs following the duplication which essentially removes all of the contacts (because the mailing list was designed to be populated by selecting entities and then the automation brings the appropriate contacts). In this case, the import brought only contacts and no entities, therefore it brings exactly no contacts to the list after the initial save. (Moshe deduced this problem)

Not sure if there is any way to rectify this due to the nature of the import. Nevertheless, it would be nice to be able to copy this as a backup--that's why we wanted to duplicate it in the first place.

You could perhaps ask Moshe to set up an exception rule for the automation. E.g. if you flag a custom field "Backup" to true, then the automation can ignore it.
