Gibberish in Interface

Post by miplatt »

Per the attached, all of the Clay interfaces are now gibberish.

Due to problems caused by various recent windows 10 updates to my outlook (indexing error, unable to search emails for specific text), our computer service providers removed some of the recent windows updates. This solved the outlook problems and they said not to update windows for a while so that there would not be additional problems.

However, perhaps this is not good for Digital Clay? Are there specific updates that are necessary for Clay that will not affect other applications? Suggestions?

This is a known Windows bug with raster fonts for which they released a fix a couple of months ago. If you rolled back Windows then you must have rolled back exactly to the period between the bug and the fix. I think the fix was released as part of this package:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... -kb4020102
So, logic dictates you either roll back further to a period before the bug, or install the fix by Microsoft.

The update worked, thanks. And did not influence Outlook.

I'm a little curious about your Outlook update woes as I've heard of problems from a few sources lately about very bad Outlook updates from Microsoft that caused havoc with plugins. In any case FYI I tested the latest Outlook and it seems to behave, so perhaps it was a temporary problem, same as the Windows bug.

Thanks for the follow up. After we raised the issue, our computer service provider removed several windows updates (as you suggest, problems were still happening after they removed the ones they had heard were problematic so they removed others as well), fixed the indexing and decided that it would be best to avoid doing any windows updates for now as long as both Outlook and Clay are working properly on the computer. I suppose if there is concrete evidence that newer updates are better and do not cause problems, then we could resume updates. However, the important thing is that everything works--so for now keeping the status quo.

If you learn more about this or have subsequent suggestions, please keep us informed. Thanks!
