Re: Validations
You can add a new Automation Validation event with filters that check the rules you need.
For example to ensure that a '@' is in the email you can add a filter: 'Email Contains @' and set it to NOT (right click on the filter and select "return results not matching this filter"). Or you can use functions to find the location of substrings inside the email address.
And so on... you can add as many rules for validation as you need and combine them with AND or OR (right click and select 'Group with optional filters')

Re: Validations
For validating fields like phone numbers and e-mails it always depends on what specific rules you want to enforce. Every company has different rules on what a phone number is supposed to look like.
For example you can ensure a phone number length by using the 'Length' function in a filter.
To match text patterns you need to use advanced LIKE wildcards in the filter values. For example you can use [0-9][0-9][0-9]-[0-9][0-9][0-9][0-9] to make sure the phone number uses the format '###-####' where each # is a number.
To make use these filters properly I intend to add a new operator in version 8.7.8 called 'Match'. For now you can try using the StartsWith operator but keep in mind that this operator adds an extra wildcard to the end of the value you enter. The 'Match' operator will also adjust the syntax of the wildcards depending on whether you are using MDB or SQL Server as the backend. For these reasons I recommend you wait a few days for v8.7.8 and then use 'Match'
You can see more example of LIKE wildcards here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/acces ... 31033.aspx
