In the automation log for an add/change item event, there are many entries for which the description is "Skipping Event Due to: Filters"

You have "verbose logging" on (ClayCentral Settings/Automation). It is telling you why it didn't run the automation for debugging purposes.
P.S. You should know that leaving this on for more than a few days/hours can severely slow down your system and fill up the database with millions of entries depending on how many automations you have.
