Outlook Asks Whether To Disable Digital-Clay Add-In
Symptom: When Outlook loads, it informs the user that ClayStation for Outlook has caused an error last time it ran and asks whether to disable it.
Unless the problem persists, the answer to this question should always be 'no' so that the add-in is not disabled.
Possible Causes:
Cause: Outlook crashed or was unstable last time it ran, making the plugins unstable as well
Solution: Ignore the message and solve the Outlook instability if it reoccurs
Cause: Outlook was closed while ClayStation was running a heavy task such as synchronization
Solution: Wait until the ClayStation progress bar closes before closing Outlook
Cause: Outlook is unstable due to corrupt PST files
Solution: Scan and repair all the PST/OST files for problems using any of the many PST utilities on the internet
Note: ALL the local files including archive PSTs that are currently loaded in Outlook may affect the stability of Outlook
Cause: Outlook is unstable due to old (non-Unicode) PST files over 1.6GB in size
Solutions:
- Check for old PSTs using Data File Management in Outlook: click Settings and look at the Format property of each PST
- Remove all unnecessary Archive folders from Outlook
- Compact all old PSTs (Folder properties)
- Convert old PSTs to Unicode PSTs using Upstart, or by creating a new PST and importing all the data from the old PST
Cause: Other errors - ClayStation instability or ClayStation displayed a runtime error last time it ran
