Editing Document Templates in Word
Some issues when making changes to HTML document templates in Word:
- Color schemes, styles, and some formatting may be lost. Word replaces style sheets with its own, sometimes removing formatting options it doesn't recognize, including the dynamic color scheme of Digital-Clay templates. There is no workaround - formatting must be re-applied using Word editing, or styles must be restored from a backup.
- Word does not support external style sheets.
- Word 2003 and up inserts many garbage tags even inside Digital-Clay fields/queries/tags, thus sometimes corrupting the Digital-Clay data. Digital-Clay can parse and ignore most of these tags but it is strongly recommended to save the html files in Word as “HTML (filtered)” to avoid this issue.
