There are several possible causes and solutions:

The add-in was disabled by Outlook

Explanation: This applies to Outlook 2002 and up. This can happen either when the system, Outlook or ClayOutlook itself becomes unstable, or if Outlook was closed while ClayOutlook was running a heavy task.

Solution: Go to “Outlook Help/About/Disabled Items” and remove Digital-Clay for Outlook from the list.

The add-in was disabled by a user

Explanation: The add-in may have been temporarily disabled

Solution: Go to “Outlook Tools/Options/Other/Advanced/Com Add-Ins” and make sure Digital-Clay for Outlook is checked.

Multiple users on the same machine

Explanation: Add-ins for Outlook must be installed once per Windows user, even on the same machine.

Solution: Install Digital-Clay for each Windows user.

Outlook didn't exit properly

Explanation: Outlook.exe didn't completely close and is still running in the Task Manager/Process List. This can happen due to several reasons, including system instability, bad/slow Exchange connections, and misbehaving add-ins.

Solution: Kill all Outlook.exe processes and restart Outlook

Registration issues

Explanation: Re-installing or updating Outlook, or other registry changes may have removed/corrupted the Digital-Clay add-on registration.

Solution: Re-register the add-in using any of the following methods:

• Go to “Outlook Tools/Options/Other/Advanced/Com Add-Ins”. If Digital-Clay for Outlook is listed there, remove it first. Add ClayOutlook from “\Program Files\Digital-Clay\ClayOutlook\ClayOutlook.dll”
• Register the dll using \Windows\System32\regsvr32.exe
• Re-install Digital-Clay for Outlook.

Other unexpected errors

Explanation: An error is preventing ClayOutlook from loading

Solution: Check the log file (“\Program Files\Digital-Clay\ClayOutlook\ClayOutlook.log”) for recent errors and contact Digital-Clay support.

64-bit Office

Explanation: Up to version 9.2, ClayStation for Outlook was a 32-bit add-on only and does not work with 64-bit Office.

Solution: Install 32-bit Office (if using version 9.2 and below).
