You cannot add a custom link to the same table as the base table (i.e. a link to itself) if the current Link Group is the default Link Group for that table. This is a limitation in the system due to the way default Link Groups are used internally in the system.

Solution: Add a new Link Group to the system and add the self-link to that Link Group instead.
