This ClayCentral setting (ClayStudio Administration/ClayCentral Settings) forcefully disconnects all clients after a period of inactivity. The default period is 5 minutes but this can be adjusted. This only applies in the following cases:

• A TCP client connection is not disconnected neatly. E.g. the network cable is unplugged.
• A Digital-Clay client connnected via E-Mail and did not manage to send a logout request when disconnecting.

Note that Digital-Clay clients normally send keep-alive packets in order to keep the connection alive even if the user is not using the program so as long as the network doesn't fail, the connection will stay up indefinitely.

Web ClayStation behaves differently: The connection between the ClayCGI module and ClayCentral is kept alive, but the ClayCGI module has its own internal idle timeout setting which forcefully disconnects ClayCentral connections after a longer period of inactivity. This is a separate setting due to the fact that Web clients cannot always send keep-alive packets and therefore need longer timeouts.
