Document Template
I may have asked this previously but how can we dictate the formatting and style settings for the Word document outputted when using a document template?
For example, outputting a company record in a word 2010 document as opposed to 97-2003 and Ariel font, etc.

Re: Document Template
Word formatting and styles are based on HTML formatting and styles. Just apply styles to the html source template using any HTML editor you wish (including Word).
Clay uses the currently installed Word that is on your computer, whatever that may be. That is what determines the Word version. If you have Word 2007+ installed, it will create .docx.

Re: Document Template
When you say "Clay uses the currently installed Word that is on your computer" - do you mean the user's computer or the server's computer where the html source template is located?

Re: Document Template
Wherever the document is actually generated. Clay client = client computer, automations = server computer.
Re: Document Template
I have word 2010 on my computer and yet when I output the document it is word 97-2003!

Re: Document Template
I tested Word 2010 and it outputs docx file correctly. How are you outputting the document? And where does it say 97-2003?
Re: Document Template
On a client computer, the user generates the appropriate document template which sits on our shared server. The cocument outputted appears to be on the client machine and when viewing the info about that document or trying to save it, it automatically says windows 97-2003 document. Perhaps if the shared server has only an earlier windows 2003 and the template sits there, that causes the output to be in the same format? Perhaps all of that must be adjusted on the server and not the client machine?
In the case of a laptop which does not always have access to the server, the document template sits on the local drive (and in the options menu it is identified accordingly as opposed to being on the shared drive).

Re: Document Template
Again, the location has nothing to do with the format. It depends on what is generating the document (if it is the client or automations).
Although I guess I should mention that .docx only works in Clay 9.1.x and up.

Re: Document Template
Ah! That might be it. We have always been on the 9.0.X track. Is there any way to make docx work on 9.0.X? What is the difference? What is involved in switching to 9.1.X?

Re: Document Template
I can't think of any way to make it work in 9.0.x.
Switching means manually installing 9.1.x on the server and all the clients will use auto-updates. It also means asking your Clay representative for a new license for 9.1.x. (if you pay yearly maintenance, new licenses are included in the maintenance price.)
