In a telephone phone number field, we wanted to have a validation which stimulates an error message if a user enters extra spaces in the phone number like 310 456 3234.
We are able to do this with dashes. Currently, if someone enters a number as 310-456-3234, they receive a validation message asking them to reenter with dots.
When I try to have it pop up if the entry "contains" a space (I push the space bar), Clay does not seem to recognize it.
Is there a way to include a space as a value to be identified?

Re: Value for Automation
Text filters can detect spaces just fine for me. I used a 'Contains' filter on a text field and entered a single space. You can do the same thing in Automation rules. If it doesn't work for you then I'll need more details.
Or, you can also use the 'Matches' keyword for more advanced filters based on patterns, which may help you with phone number fields.
