We have managed to limit the issue to one case and that particular case was found to have peculiar characters (inadvertantly) in the company description such that it may have caused difficulty for the system. After creating an alternative version, no problem arose. Therefore, for now, we will monitor but seemingly no need for further action at this time.

Well obviously the question of whether to fix the bug in the custom addon code depends on whether you may need to use these special characters in the future.

Yes agreed. Actually, the error-causing items seem to be the result of human error- copy/paste from the internet which included hidden symbols. We absolutely would not want those to remain in the system as they are incorrect and would cause issues when outputting the data in the future anyway. As such, it is actually a good thing that this came up as an error and an opportunity to remove those items and recreate the record. Otherwise, we can monitor to see if there are any other effects or repercussions from this matter. Thanks very much as always for your help.
