Yes it makes the symbol but not the line break. Plus the symbol would appear when you print/view it normally. You are confusing editing marks with actual marks.

For FieldValue do you mean like 'Clay178' or %SFM T=F F=194 R=5000%

Neither. The custom function field is a function inside which you can add fields using the custom function builder. You then add the custom function field itself to the HTML template just like any other field.

Thanks, that I knew. I have figured out what I needed regarding that.

Currently, when we output a document template to MS Word, it appears in the web layout view (as a result cannot see page numbers, etc.) and certain lines/fields are being considered German instead of English US (according to what we see at the bottom of the MS Word window). When opening a new document independently of Digital Clay, the document appears in print layout.

Do you know if there is a way to influence these details through Word or Clay? We would want the document to come up as print layout view and English US.

I'm sure this is a Word issue - we don't touch the default view in the code and we can't set it to a hard-coded specific view obviously because this may not be what the user wants. The code just tells Word to open and save the document and then tells Windows to open the document.

To prove this, you can test it by opening the generated HTML file yourself in Word and see that the default layout is ignored, just like when Clay does it.

You need to solve it using Word. Perhaps a macro inside the normal.dot template would override it? Something like:

Private Sub Document_New()
ThisDocument.Application.ActiveWindow.View = wdPrintView
End Sub

Private Sub Document_Open()
ThisDocument.Application.ActiveWindow.View = wdPrintView
End Sub

Regarding the German: I don't know what you are referring to but once again, you can test whether it's a Clay issue using the above method. Or perhaps you need to set a language or codepage in the HTML template for it to recognize the text? This is something you will have to experiment with.
