This is strange. Is it possible that there are simply many values and it is taking longer to find the a word? Have you tried typing and then stopping to type and waiting for results a few seconds (not that slowness is normal but I am trying to understand the problem)? How many records are in that table that contains the filter values?

Yes, the search box in the list of filter values before running the query which produces the list in the search result box below.
Yes, we stop after each letter a few seconds and still the desired record(s) does not appear. Therefore, it does not seem to be a slowness issue. One of the main tables has 27,000+ records and another main table has 39,000+.

This is indeed very strange and no theories fit with your description so far. If the name DOES appear after you type more letters then that means the value does exist so it doesn't make sense at all. The exact same code that found it using 10 letters should find it using the first 5 letters.
I would have to see it myself to see if there is anything you missed. Or perhaps you can try experimenting with it a bit more and note down any little clues or patterns that you see that could help.
