In the browser, in the left hand column entitled "Type of items" there is a list of things like tasks, opportunities, etc.
Please remind me how we can determine/fix the order of the items how we wish it to be? For example, putting "Cities" first.

Click on the last item, 'Customize this List' and move or drag the items up/down in that window.

Gotcha, yes of course. While each user can do it, how can it be set for everyone - is it included in setting the profile to other users?

Assuming you are on 9.1..first make sure that setting is part of the profile:
1. In ClayStudio/Users/"Settings in Profiles" make sure that 'Browser - Tables' is checked. From now on users will not be able to change this setting anymore permanently for themselves.
2. Then, assuming you have customized this setting (the list of tables) for yourself properly, go to Profile Management and send your settings to others. Beware that this will send ALL your profile settings to others as well and lock them from making changes to their profile settings.
(In 9.2 Profile Management has changed radically and improved in many ways)
