If a user selects the checkbox mode and then selects desired records in a filtered list, is there a way to open those checked items as a query?
In the past, we have had to highlight desired records in a filtered list (non-checkbox mode), then when we right click and select Open Items as a Query, a new window opens with the list of the highlighted desired items.
In general, we have a need to filter lists of records based on certain parameters (for example, selecting companies based on their sector or country) and then further filtering the resulting list based on other considerations (for example, taking out specific companies we believe are irrelevant to the current project). So for that, we would highlight the companies we do want to keep and open them as a query.
Is there a better way to do it? Or to keep that filtered list but be able to remove specific companies from the list?

Re: Checkbox Mode
I don't think I understood the question since "Open Items as Query" works also in checkbox mode on my end. Doesn't it work for you? It opens all checked items in a separate window (whereas when not in checkbox mode, it opens all selected items in a separate window).
Regarding what you are trying to achieve, if you are linking the selected companies to some kind of project, then why not simply select them and bulk edit them so that they are linked to the project without opening them in a separate window? They way I usually do these things is make a Create Action or Edit Action as shortcuts. For example, if the companies will be linked to a project via an intermediate table (e.g. 'Project Members'), then use a Create Action to create one Project Member per selected Company directly from the filtered list after you selected the ones you want. If you are changing a field in the Company (e.g. 'Associated Projects') then use an Edit Action. You can also simply 'Tag' Companies with any ad-hoc 'tags' you wish this way. I.e. you create a table called 'Tags' then link them in the same way you would to a Project in my examples above.
After they have been linked or tagged, you can obviously filter them again later by Project/Tag easily.
